San Jose Earthquakes seemed to be finding their style of play again, with back-to-back wins against San Diego FC on the road and a win over Houston Dynamo last week at home. San Jose Earthquakes are in a 5 game unbeaten run after drawing with LAFC.
With only 1 win in their last 5 games. LAFC showed much better performance and eagerness to win. They were the better team in 90 minutes despite having 10 men on the pitch. LAFC scored a second goal in the second half with 10 men and had a chance to win after Son Heung Min scored the third goal, but it was disallowed after VAR review.
Dennis Bouanga and Son Heung Min shined in offense tonight, but Hugo Lloris was certainly the man of the match for LAFC. He made a huge impact with 7 saves, 6 in the second half, denying headers from Preston Judd and Benji Kikanović, and shots from Paul Marie and Timo Werner. The most critical save was a 6-yard header from Jack Skahan, saving an important point for LAFC.
South Korean international Son Heung Min struck first in the 34th minute. Son Heung Min found space near the center circle, dribbled to the top of San Jose Earthquakes’ box, took a long shot with his left foot, and scored first for LAFC. Their happiness didn’t last long, only 2 minutes later, Aaron Long brought down San Jose Earthquakes midfielder Niko Tsakiris and was sent off on a red card. LAFC were down to 10 men in the 36th minute.
Bruce Arena brought on Preston Judd and Vitor Costa at halftime and pushed for an equalizer, but only waited for another LAFC goal in the 53rd minute. Mark Delgado picked up a loose ball and played a through ball to Son Heung Min for a counterattack, who then assisted Dennis Bouanga in scoring the second goal.

LAFC seemed to secure 3 points on the road, but when Timo Werner came off the bench, he made an immediate impact, assisting within 10 minutes from the right wing, crossing into the box for a Preston Judd header, making the game 1-2, and putting off some pressure on the Quakes.
Just minutes later, Son Heung Min scored the third goal for LAFC, but Sergi Palencia committed a foul on San Jose Earthquakes defender Victor Costa before the goal. San Jose Earthquakes went all out after the disallowed goal and took back control of the momentum with 20 minutes to go.

The moment ultimately arrived in the last minute of stoppage time. Reid Roberts redeemed himself, struck the equalizer into the lower right corner, and saved 1 point for San Jose Earthquakes.
San Jose Earthquakes were happy to get a point out of the game, they now sit at 5th place in the Western Conference with 42 points. They will face Portland Timbers next Saturday, Sept. 26, at home.
