Northern California rivalry, Oakland Roots SC vs. Monterey Bay FC meets at the Oakland Coliseum. Both teams are struggling in the league, seeking for a much-needed win to improve their results.
Oakland Roots played an aggressive first half, controlling most of the possession and attacking momentum. Their hard work paid off before the halftime whistle. Bruno Lapa delivered a corner from the left side, Monterey Bay goalkeeper Fernando Delgado misjudged the ball and punched it short, the ball dropped in front of Bertin Jacquesson, and Bertin Jacquesson reacted quickly to score in the 45th minute, giving Oakland Roots a 1-0 lead entering the second half.

Monterey Bay came out stronger with more possessions and shot attempts after switching sides. Monterey Bay patiently waited for their moment to come in the 77th minute, Paul Gindiri shot inside the box and found the net with a deflection off of Oakland defender Jesus De Vicente to equalize the game 1-1.
Both teams were chasing a winning goal after the equalizer. False alarm for Monterey Bay in the 87th minute as Sebastian Lletget scored from an offside position. Neither team could find the second goal in the late minutes. NorCal rivals shook hands to share points at the Coliseum after a well-battled 90 minutes.
Monterey Bay secured a much-needed point on the road after a better performance in the second half, yet remained at the bottom of the USL Championship, seeking their first win since June.
